"Minus 1000 Yen... that is your worth as a man."
So, as expected, Kai curbstomps Katsuta once he gets him to stop using signals. When Katsuta doesn't have the advantage of being able to know Kai's hand and they're on equal footing, he doesn't stand a chance against Kai. It seems Kai's true aim wasn't really to face a worthy opponent, but merely to manipulate Katsuta's ego and make him think he could win in a fair fight. From Katsuta's perspective, he was having a game between men to see who was really strongest, but from Kai's perspective, he knew he was the strongest and merely wanted to play with a man's emotions and see him squirm when all his bonus money melted away. By the end, Katsuta had figured it out, and when asked to put his own money on the line he refused, knowing now how outclassed he really was.
All Kai won was 1000 measly yen, but nonetheless he diffused a disadvantageous situation and won back all the money he'd given away to Katsuta. The true winners here are the Parlor owners who probably won't ever see the Mito group again, unless they're willing to risk running into the demon in human form only known as "Kai"...
