Thanks to Tambur for the typesetting and to Penchan for the cleans!
"When you gamble, play with your own money. Play with other peoples' money and you'll spiral down to Hell."
So yeah, lots of mahjong terminology in this one. I didn't really think it needed explaining, but if you didn't know, "Yakuhai" are the tiles that give you a Yaku just by having all three of them; the Dragons, Round Wind, and Seat Wind. I hope I explained everything else well enough in the chapter.
So yeah, this kind of thing is why I really love Mukoubuchi; I've used Ato-Atozuke in games after learning about it here; it's actually a really good strategy that works well in East-Only games. There's lots of little bits of applicable mahjong strategy that the Pros really use mixed in with enough ridiculous scenes and outrageous plays to keep you entertained, like the 10-alices thing. But even those ridiculous scenes have reason and strategy behind them, like how Ueshima deliberately broke up an Ii Pei Kou to make that happen and give him one extra tile that could be an Alice.
We're still not far enough in to be getting to what REALLY makes Mukoubuchi what it is yet, but I'll just say that the fun has yet to truly begin.
I think that once every two weeks will be enough for this series; it's episodic so each chapter has a lot happen in it, probably containing enough content for 2 or even 3 Akagi chapters. What that does mea though is that we won't be getting to the really good stuff for a few months, so try and hang in there while we get revved up.

ReplyDeleteAfter binging on Akagi to catch up, this chapter felt like a volume! Love the art style and where things are going already. Thanks for the chapter!
