"I've got it! East-only games aren't all about quick, cheap wins!!"
So there's a bit of talk of flow and momentum in this one, but Yuuta's new approach to east-only games works pretty well in general. Usually with east-only games you're aiming for smaller hands than you generally do in hanchans, since there's less rounds, but at the same time if you just go purely for quick cheap hands you'll get stomped on when anyone gets a marginally good hand. So it's all about balancing speed with hand value.
So from this trio of chapters you'd probably think that Yuuta is the main character that we'll be following throughout the series. But you'd be wrong. After this chapter, we're going to be shifting our focus to the man known as Kai. In fact, we won't be seeing Yuuta again for a very long time. Kind of a strange choice; I have to assume that Etsuya started the series wanting it to be a tale of a man learning how to play at high stakes, but decided to focus more on the badass gambler he was looking up to and never looked back. I don't think I've ever read another series that does that quite so abruptly, but then I don't read a lot of series. In any case, the series is going to profit from that choice, believe you me.
Aw, I was just getting used to Yuuta. At least Kai is still awesome as hell. looking forward to the next chapter!
